It acts as an inhibitor of the protein kinases involved in tumor growth and apoptosis. Mitoquinone bromide has been found to be effective against a variety of cancer cell lines, including those from Chinese hamster ovary cells, human urine tumors, and other human cancer cell lines. This compound has also been found to be an inhibitor of donepezil, which is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The potential use of mitoquinone bromide as an anticancer agent is currently being investigated in preclinical studies.
