Mutant p53 Reactivator is a monoclonal antibody that binds to mutant p53, which is found in cancer cells. Mutant p53 Reactivator has been shown to be effective in the treatment of lymphoproliferative disorders and myeloma by inducing apoptotic cell death. This drug also has the ability to inhibit tumor growth in xenograft animal models. Mutant p53 Reactivator has been shown to be effective as an adjunct therapy for cancer patients with advanced disease, who are not responding well to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. The mechanism of action for this drug is unknown, but it may work by binding to mutant p53 and preventing the protein from binding with DNA.
