NADG is a synthetic carbohydrate that can be used in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates. It has been modified to contain fluorine atoms at the 3rd and 4th carbon positions. This modification prevents NADG from being hydrolyzed by aminoglycosides such as kanamycin and neomycin, which are used in chemotherapy treatment.
