Zinc titanate is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that has high reactivity with hydrochloric acid and low activation energy. Zinc titanate is activated by light exposure and reacts with water vapor to form zinc chloride and titanium dioxide. The reaction mechanism of zinc titanate is not yet fully understood, but it has been proposed that the process proceeds through a particle or surface mechanism.
