Descripción

Hafnium oxide is a chemical compound that is highly resistant to reactions with other chemicals. It has been shown to be stable in the presence of water vapor, hydrogen fluoride and reactive oxygen species. Hafnium oxide reacts with nitrogen atoms and water vapor to form hafnium nitride. This reaction is facilitated by the high temperatures required for synthesis of hafnium oxide. The mechanism for this reaction is not well understood, but it may involve the formation of an intermediate zirconium-hafnium complex. Hafnium oxide is ferroelectric and exhibits electrochemical impedance spectroscopy properties.
