Descripción

Acid Red 289 is a metal chelate with an acidic, carbonyl group and polymerization initiator. It is used as a colorant in reactive dyeing processes. Acid Red 289 is prepared by the reaction of sodium hydroxide with 4-nitrophenyl acetic acid and 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid. This compound has been shown to have optical properties that are dependent on the pH of the solution in which it is dissolved. The compound appears red in alkaline solutions and blue in acidic solutions. Acid Red 289 also has hydrochloric acid, hydroxyl group, and phosphate groups that allow it to be combined with other compounds to form new colors or reactants.
