Descripción:(R)-3,6-O-Benzylidene-2,6-dideoxy-L-galacto(gluco)furanose is a synthetic carbohydrate that has been modified with the addition of a fluorine atom. This modification changes the properties of the sugar and allows it to be used as an effective anticancer drug. (R)-3,6-O-Benzylidene-2,6-dideoxy-L-galacto(gluco)furanose has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vitro and in vivo. It is also capable of inhibiting the synthesis and activity of bacterial enzymes such as beta-glucosidase and alpha amylase.
