Descripción:1-(3-Methoxyphenyl)thiourea (1-MTU) is a drug that has been shown to have hypoglycemic activity in animal models of diabetes. It is an agonist for the human glucagon receptor and has EC50 values of 0.3-0.8 μM, which are similar to those of the natural ligand, glucagon. 1-MTU has been shown to be effective in reducing hyperglycemia in diabetic mice and rats. This drug is being considered as a potential treatment for type 2 diabetes and may be useful for treating other diseases with an inflammatory component such as arthritis and osteoporosis.
