Cyclohexylidenecyanoacetic acid (CHDA) is a ligand that binds to the cavity of aromatic hydrocarbons. It is used as an organic solvent, a polymerization inhibitor, and as a dehydrogenation agent. CHDA can bind to cyclohexanol in the bound form or in the cavity. The interaction between CHDA and cyclohexanol depends on the type of reaction it is involved in. In reactions involving chlorine, peroxide, or other acidic substances, CHDA may react with these substances and be converted into cyanide.
