Jolkinolide A is a natural product that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting the production of proteins necessary for cell division. Jolkinolide A has also been found to be an absorption enhancer in chemical reactions, and can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent. This compound binds to granules and inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators from neutrophils. Jolkinolide A also inhibits the production of interleukin-2 (IL-2) and TNF-α in mouse models, which may lead to immunosuppression. This compound has not been tested on humans or animals with autoimmune diseases.
