Betamethasone acid is a corticosteroid that is used to treat inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. Betamethasone acid inhibits the production of e3 ubiquitin ligase proteins which are involved in the degradation of proteins. This inhibition leads to an increase in protein synthesis and decreased inflammation. Betamethasone acid also blocks the activity of inflammatory cells by binding to specific receptors on their surfaces and prevents them from releasing inflammatory substances. Betamethasone acid is also used to treat skin conditions such as dermatitis and erythroderma, but it can cause side effects including hyperglycemia, increased appetite, weight gain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, or mood swings.
