Corilagin inhibits the production of anion radicals, which are reactive species that contribute to oxidative stress and inflammation. Corilagin also has an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. In addition, corilagin induces autophagy, a process where cells degrade their own components through the lysosomal machinery in order to generate energy and eliminate toxic substances.
