Calycosin-7-O-b-D-glucoside is a flavonoid glycoside that is found in the roots of Astragalus membranaceus. It has been shown to inhibit microglia activation and neuroinflammation. It also has an inhibitory effect on energy metabolism, which may be due to its ability to inhibit ATPase activity. Calycosin-7-O-b-D-glucoside is able to reduce bone loss by inhibiting the expression of BMP2 and BMP6. This compound also has antihepatotoxic effects, which may be due to its ability to reduce triglycerides levels in the liver. This effect may be due to its inhibition of lipogenesis through the suppression of SREBP1c and FASN expression, as well as its inhibition of sterol regulatory element binding protein 1 (SREBP1) transcriptional activity.
