Descripción:(+)-Casuarine is a chiral biomolecule that is structurally related to (+)-cinchonine. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of glycosidase, an enzyme that hydrolyzes glycosides, and as such it has potential use in the development of drugs for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The enolate form of (+)-casuarine can undergo cycloadditions with oxygenated functional groups. This reaction is stereoselective and leads to polyhydroxylated products.
