4-Isopropylcyclohexanecarboxylic Acid is a chlorinated, sulfurous acid that can be used in the synthesis of terephthalic acid and β-pinene. It has been shown to have a high yield in a Grignard reaction as well as thiourea synthesis. 4-Isopropylcyclohexanecarboxylic Acid is also used as an environmental pollutant and has been found to be present in crude oil, coal tar, and smoke from biomass burning. It is commercially available as a salt form or as the hydrochloride salt.
