Fortuneine is an alkaloid that has been isolated from the leaves of fraxinus rhinitis and Cephalotaxus fortunei. It is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and has been shown to be effective in treating allergic rhinitis, especially in patients with moderate to severe symptoms who have not responded adequately to other treatments. Fortuneine has also been shown to inhibit the production of aminolevulinic acid and epiwilsonine, which are compounds that are involved in the synthesis of heme. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the amount of heme available for hemoglobin synthesis, which may account for its anti-inflammatory effects.
