4-Methyl-1-heptyn-3-ol is an organic compound that belongs to the group of dienes. It has been synthesized in a stereoselective manner by reacting propargyl alcohol with ethanes and ethylene. The reaction product was then subjected to a reductive amination with ammonia, which yielded 4-methyl-1-heptyn-3-ol. Analogues of this compound have been prepared by substituting the methyl group with other alkyl groups such as isopropyl or tertiary butyl groups. Furthermore, it can be converted into propargylamines, yielding high yields of propargylamines in good yields.
