Descripción:4, 6-O-Ethylidene-D-glucopyranose is a glucose analogue that inhibits sugar transport. It has been shown to inhibit glucose transport by binding to the hydroxyl group on the red cell membrane. This binding prevents the sugar from entering the cell and as a result, glucose accumulates in the blood. 4, 6-O-Ethylidene-D-glucopyranose also binds to tryptophan fluorescence and inhibits cytochalasin B binding to tryptophans that are located on the plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells.
