Ethyl 2-O-benzoyl-4,6-O-benzylidene-β-D-galactopyranoside (E2B) is a fluorinated oligosaccharide that has been synthesized using the Click chemistry. The synthesis proceeds via an oxidative coupling of benzoyl chloride and 4,6-O-benzylidene β-D galactopyranose. The product was purified by crystallization from methanol.
E2B is a complex carbohydrate that can be modified to suit your needs. It is used in research as a model for glycosylation and polysaccharides with methylation or sugar modification.
