Ethynyl estradiol 3-b-D-glucuronide is a synthetic derivative of the endogenous estrogen, 17β-estradiol. It is a glycosylated, complex carbohydrate with a methylation and fluorination modification. Ethynyl estradiol 3-b-D-glucuronide is synthesized by reacting ethynyl estradiol with β-D-glucuronic acid to form an ester linkage between the sugar and steroid molecules.
