Ethyl maltol glucoside is a methylated and fluorinated sugar that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of oligosaccharides or polysaccharides. It has been shown to be an efficient and selective substrate for glycosyltransferases. Ethyl maltol glucoside has been modified with click chemistry, which enables it to be incorporated into complex carbohydrates.
