N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-DL-tryptophan is a chemical compound that reacts with trifluoroacetic acid and hydrogen fluoride to form the reactive site. It has an inhibitory effect on cellular reactions, which may be due to its ability to bind with cell receptors. N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-DL-tryptophan also reacts with tyrosinase in the presence of sodium chloride, forming tyrosinase and n-acetyl-l-tyrosine. The nmr spectra of this compound show signals at 10.8 ppm for the protons on the amide carbonyl carbon, which is characteristic of an amide linkage.
