It is a primary alcohol that can be obtained by the oxidation of cyclohexanol or cyclopentanol, or by the reduction of cyclopentanone. 1-Cyclohexylcyclopropan-1-ol can also be obtained from natural products, such as macrocyclic diterpenoids and tetraisopropoxide. 1CPC has been identified as a potential precursor to trifluoroacetylated cyclic peptides, which are more stable than linear peptides and have shown pluripotent properties in vitro. 1CPC is a good solvent for amines and it has been used in the synthesis of histone deacetylase inhibitors.
