6-O-Feruloylglucose is a phenylpropanoid glycoside that has been shown to have antioxidant properties. It has been found to inhibit the growth of wild-type strains of Escherichia coli, but not mutants resistant to oxidative DNA damage. 6-O-Feruloylglucose also has potential use in repairing mechanisms to combat oxidative DNA damage. This compound may be useful for treating actinomycetes, which are bacteria that are typically resistant to antibiotics. The hydrated form of 6-O-feruloylglucose can be found in the vegetative cell walls of the actinomycetes and some other bacteria.
