D-Glucosamine-oxime HCl is a hydrocyanic acid derivative that contains a polyhydroxy group. It can exist as two isomers, D-glucosamine and D-glucosamine-oxime. These isomers are distinguished by the presence or absence of acetyl groups on the nitrogen atoms. D-Glucosamine-oxime HCl functions as a divalent metal ion chelator and sequestering agent that has been shown to be useful in the treatment of lead poisoning.
