Glycyrrhetic acid 3-O-b-D-glucuronide is a metabolite of glycyrrhetic acid, which can be found in the urine of patients with alopecia areata. Glycyrrhetic acid 3-O-b-D-glucuronide has been used as a biomarker for the diagnosis of this condition. The use of monoclonal antibodies in immunohistochemistry to detect and identify the antigen has also been shown to be an effective diagnostic method for alopecia areata. The pharmacokinetic properties of glycyrrhetic acid 3-O-b-D-glucuronide have been studied using an analytical method that is capable of measuring this compound in biological samples such as urine.
