- Piperazine, 2,6-dimethyl-,dihydrochloride, (2R-trans)-
- Piperazine,2,6-dimethyl-, dihydrochloride, (2R,6R)-
(2R,6R)-2,6-Dimethylpiperazine dihydrochloride is an industrial chemical that can be used in the production of propylene oxide. The reduction reaction of this chemical is catalyzed by a variety of reducing agents such as hydrogen gas or formaldehyde. The ring-opening reaction of this compound can be achieved through a ring-opening reaction with hydrochloric acid, but it can also be achieved through a ring-opening reaction with sodium hydroxide. Dihydrochloride is the salt form of 2,6-dimethylpiperazine dihydrochloride and has the chemical formula HCl·(CH)NHPIPERAZINE·2H2O. This chemical has been shown to undergo a cyclization reaction when heated to reflux with carbon disulfide, which gives rise to piperazine and propylene oxide.
