This product is also used in Click chemistry as a reactive group. Methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-benzoyl-α-D-glucopyranoside can be fluorinated or saccharified to produce high purity sugars for use in pharmaceuticals. Methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-benzoyl -αD -glucopyranoside has CAS number 52621-71-3. It is synthesized through the reaction of benzaldehyde with glycerol in the presence of sodium hydroxide and potassium carbonate.
