Methyl 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-2-phthalimido-b-D-thioglucopyranoside (MTATP) is a drug that has been shown to be effective in treating pancreatitis and colitis. It has also shown promise as an anticancer agent. MTATP is a small molecule that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase 4B. This enzyme plays a role in the regulation of intracellular signaling pathways and is involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. MTATP has been shown to inhibit the activity of this enzyme, preventing cancer cells from proliferating and promoting their differentiation instead.
