Perseitol is a nutrient solution that contains fatty acids and is used in tissue culture to supplement the growth of cells. It can be used as a substitute for animal serum, which is usually derived from bovine or porcine sources. Perseitol is also used in vitro assay systems to determine the redox potential of substances.
