Descripción:BAR502 is a drug that is used in clinical trials as a treatment for chronic liver disease. BAR502 activates the nuclear receptor PPARγ, which has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity in animals with chronic liver disease. The mechanism of action of BAR502 has not been fully elucidated, but it may be due to its ability to decrease lipid accumulation and improve glucose tolerance in adipose tissue. BAR502 binds to PPARγ receptors and alters the expression of genes involved in energy metabolism, such as fatty acid synthase and gluconeogenic enzymes. The clinical relevance of BAR502 has not yet been determined.
