Descripción:Sennoside B is a natural laxative derived from the leaves and pods of senna plants, specifically Cassia angustifolia and Cassia acutifolia. As an anthraquinone glycoside, its structure comprises a sugar moiety linked to an aglycone, which is responsible for its pharmacological activity. The mode of action of Sennoside B involves its biotransformation by gut bacteria in the colon, where it is converted into its active form, rhein anthrone. This active metabolite stimulates the mucosal lining of the colon and alters electrolyte transport across the intestinal epithelium. The result is increased peristaltic contractions and an augmented influx of water into the colon, leading to bowel movement facilitation.
