Sedoheptulose-1-phosphate is a ribosomal metabolite that is produced by marine microorganisms. It is catabolized by sedoheptulose-7-phosphate kinase and converted to the pentose phosphate pathway. The metabolic profile of sedoheptulose-1-phosphate has been shown to be altered in response to environmental stress, such as changes in pH, oxygen levels, and temperature. Sedoheptulose-1-phosphate has also been shown to have structural properties similar to those of ATP and ADP, which may make it an important target for the development of antibiotics.
