It has been shown to be effective against HER2+ breast cancer, colorectal carcinoma cell lines, and lung carcinoma cell lines. CP-724714 causes cell cycle arrest by inhibiting the production of proteins required for DNA replication and repair. Cell proliferation inhibition can also be achieved by blocking epidermal growth factor receptors or other growth factors such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). The mechanism of action may involve interference with the activation of protein kinase B (PKB), which is involved in cell signaling pathways.
