• Descripción: L-Xylulose is a pentose sugar that can be used as a precursor for the synthesis of l-xylitol and arabinitol. L-Xylulose is an intermediate in the pentose phosphate pathway, which produces ribose 5-phosphate and NADPH. L-Xylulose has been shown to have anticancer activity by inhibiting polymerase chain reactions (PCRs) in cancerous tissues. This effect has been attributed to its ability to reduce the levels of dNTPs, which are required for DNA replication. L-Xylulose also inhibits aerobic respiration, which may be due to its ability to inhibit enzymatic activity of both ribitol dehydrogenase and l-arabinitol dehydrogenase.
