Carabrolactone B is a sesquiterpene lactone that belongs to the group of cyclopentane-ring containing compounds. It has been isolated from the genus Caragana and can be found in the flavonoids, chlorogenic acids, protocatechuic acid, and isobutyrate. Carabrolactone B has shown an anti-proliferative effect on HL-60 cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis and cell division. It also has been shown to have chemo-protective effects against aflatoxin B1 induced toxicity in mice liver cells. Carabrolactone B is soluble in ethanol extract but insoluble in hydroalcoholic solvents.
