Descripción:5-Amino-2’-deoxyuridine HCl is an antiviral drug that inhibits the synthesis of DNA. It is a modified deoxyribonucleoside and has a high antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 and cytomegalovirus. 5-Amino-2’-deoxyuridine HCl is also effective in inhibiting the replication of Epstein Barr virus and adenovirus. The compound has been shown to be active against cancer cells, as well as inducing apoptosis in these cells. This compound is synthesized from uracil, which may be obtained from natural sources such as yeast extract or corn steep liquor.5-Amino-2’-deoxyuridine HCl was first reported by Dr. Atsuko Kashiwagi et al., who found its anticancer effect on mouse leukemia cells in 1979.
