N-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)acetamide is an antibacterial agent that has been shown to bind to the anion binding sites of a number of different bacterial cell walls. It has been shown to have a high binding constant for Cl- and hydroxy groups, which are found in many bacterial cell walls. N-(Pyrimidin-2-yl)acetamide has also been shown to have stereoselective properties, which means that it binds only to one enantiomer of the target molecule.
