Isoprobenphos is a fat cell-specific redox potential agent that can be used as a nutrient solution for diagnostic agents. Isoprobenphos has been synthesized using heterologous expression systems and nanoparticulate compositions. The compound inhibits the synthesis of proteins in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes by inhibiting the ryanodine receptor, which is responsible for calcium release from intracellular stores. Isoprobenphos also has fungicidal properties and can be used to prevent the growth of fungi on plants and other surfaces. This compound has been shown to have no toxicological effects in animal studies, with an LD50 of over 5 g/kg.
