2-Carbethoxy-5-methylcyclohexanone is a Grignard reagent that can be used in the preparation of a variety of organic compounds. It also has pharmacological properties and can be used as an analogue for other drugs. This compound is soluble in water, but insoluble in ether. The yields are high, with anions being formed when it reacts with chloride and isomerization occurring when reacted with dimethylheptylpyran. The chemical structure of 2-carbethoxy-5-methylcyclohexanone includes a benzoyl group and a diketone group that are both cyclic in nature. Pharmacological tests have been performed on this drug to determine its cardiovascular effects, which have shown it to have no significant effect on the heart rate or blood pressure.
