Barium tetracyanoplatinate(II) is a hexahydrate of barium tetracyanoplatinate with an optical band gap of 2.1 eV. It has been shown to have bonding interactions with other metals, and can form metal complexes in the presence of transition metals such as copper. This compound has been observed to have a semiconducting property and can be used at both high and low temperatures, making it useful for many different applications.
