Potassium dideuterium phosphate is a salt that is composed of potassium and dihydrogen. The potassium ion is the cation and the dihydrogen molecule is the anion. It has a phase transition temperature of -50 °C and can be used as a radiation shield. Potassium dideuterium phosphate has been shown to inhibit enzyme activity in wild-type strains, which may be due to its ability to bind to potassium ions. Potassium dideuterium phosphate has also been shown to inhibit enzyme activity in bacteria containing sodium salts, which may be due to its ability to bind to phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5).
