The compound is a novel synthetic nucleoside that inhibits the viral reverse transcriptase enzyme and prevents RNA synthesis. N6-Benzoyl-3'-O-tert-butyldimethylsilyl-2'-deoxyadenosine also inhibits DNA synthesis by inhibiting the activity of DNA polymerases and can be used for the treatment of cancer.
