It is an intermediate in the synthesis of phosphoramidites and has been used in the synthesis of oligonucleotides and DNA. 3',5'-Bis-O-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)-5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine can also be used as antiviral and anticancer agents. 3',5'-Bis-O-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)-5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine is soluble in water, ethanol, and chloroform at a concentration of 1 g/L.
