Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium chloride is a fatty acid ester that is the monolaurate salt of bis(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium. It has been shown to be highly hydrophilic and can be used as a cross-linking agent in the production of aluminium or monolaurate. Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium chloride has also been shown to have efficacy in preventing the development of atherosclerosis, which may be due to its ability to reduce blood vessel injury. Rhizoma coptidis extracts have also been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, which may be due to bis(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium chloride's ability to prevent blood clot formation.
