1,3-Benzodioxole-5,6-diamine is a sialic acid analog that has been extensively studied for its potential use as a tumor marker. The resulting product can be used to label glycoconjugates and monoclonal antibodies using a fluorescence detector. The bound form of this compound can be detected in human serum using an analytical method involving an acidic environment. The conformational properties of these compounds have been extensively analyzed and their structural analysis has shown that they are capable of forming hydrogen bonds.
