Descripción:Brain Natriuretic Peptide is a peptide that belongs to the family of atrial natriuretic peptides. It is primarily secreted by the ventricles in response to high blood pressure, and also acts as an endogenous ligand for the G-protein coupled receptor NPR1. Brain Natriuretic Peptide has been shown to be an activator of ion channels and receptors that are implicated in cell biology, such as potassium channels. Brain Natriuretic Peptide also has been shown to inhibit the effects of peptides such as angiotensin II, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the binding of angiotensin II to its receptor.
