2-Chloro-4-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)ethyl]-6-methylpyrimidine is a synthetic nucleoside analog that inhibits viral DNA synthesis by acting as an inhibitor of the viral enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. 2-Chloro-4-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)ethyl]-6-methylpyrimidine has been shown to be effective against various viruses, including HIV and herpes simplex virus 1.
