Miransertib is a potent, orally active small-molecule inhibitor of protein synthesis. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, with activity against platinum-resistant ovarian cancer cells and prostate cancer cells. Miransertib also inhibits the production of the growth factor VEGF. In addition, miransertib has potent antitumor activity in diabetic patients and can be used to treat congestive heart failure. This drug is activated by sorafenib and has been shown to inhibit the production of human liver proteins as well as human endometrial proteins. Miransertib belongs to the sorafenib group of drugs.
