It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and is currently being studied as an anticancer agent. 2'-Deoxy-2'-fluoroguanosine 5'-monophosphate triethyl ammonium has also been shown to have antiviral properties against herpes simplex virus type 1.
